Severe attack' on Iran to be launched today: US Defense Secretary

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said today (Tuesday) will be the "most severe attack" on Iran since the start of the war 10 days ago. He also said that Iran has used the least number of weapons in the last 24 hours. The US defense minister made the threat in a press conference at the Pentagon on Tuesday.

US military officer General Dan Cain paid tribute to the US soldiers who lost their lives participating in the war against Iran on the orders of President Donald Trump at the press conference.

Giving an update on the conflict, he said the joint forces are focusing on three main objectives. These goals are to destroy missile and drone capabilities before they hit US interests, attack and weaken Iran's navy, and ensure that Iran cannot attack the US and its allies for years to come.

General Dan Cain said Iran's current ballistic missile strike rate has dropped by about 90 percent compared to early in the war. He said the US is now striking Iran's mine-laying missiles. Terming the operation as "tough and unrelenting work", he lauded the joint forces' performance.

And Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the outcome of this conflict "will be in America's favor" and that the United States will not accept "nuclear blackmailing" from Iran.

Earlier, President Donald Trump warned that Iran would be hit with "20 times more force" if it tried to cut off oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. The country's defense minister repeated that message.

What steps is the Pentagon taking to reduce civilian casualties in Iran; In response to such questions, Hegseth said that no country takes more precautions than the United States to avoid targeting civilians.

He said, "If there is any incident worth investigating, we will certainly investigate it." However, open source cannot be a means of determining whether an incident has occurred or not.Asked about the Iranian government's claim that it is ready for a "long-term war," Hegseth said the United States is providing all kinds of logistics to properly protect frontline troops. General Kaine said US forces are now able to move with "comparative ease". But the risk is always there.

Regarding Iran's attack on Gulf neighboring countries, he said that Iran has made a big mistake by attacking neighboring countries. This is the extreme stubbornness of Iran.

He thinks Iran has miscalculated. Because of their behavior, the neighboring countries are supporting the United States instead. Hegseth said Iran's new leader would be wise to heed the US president's warning not to seek nuclear weapons.

Hegseth declined to comment when asked about reports that Iran's new supreme leader had been injured. Finally, he said, this war is not endless or lasting. It is not for me to decide whether it is the beginning or the end;It depends on the president.
