Israel Claims Khamenei Is Dead, Iran Says He Is Leading on the Battlefield
Confusion has emerged over whether Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is alive or dead. Israeli officials have claimed that he was killed after an attack targeted his residence early Saturday morning. The claim was reported by the Reuters news agency, citing Israeli sources.
However, shortly afterward, two Iranian media outlets — Tasnim News and Mehr News — quoted official government sources stating that Khamenei is alive and is firmly leading operations on the battlefield.
Reuters later updated its headline to reflect the conflicting claims, writing: “Israelis say Khamenei is dead, Iranians say he is leading in the field.”
Israeli media outlet Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been shown images of Khamenei’s body, claiming he died inside the compound of his residence. According to the report, Iranian rescue teams recovered the body from the site.
Earlier Saturday, Israel and the United States reportedly carried out a major strike targeting Khamenei’s residence. The New York Times later published satellite imagery showing the compound completely destroyed and reduced to rubble.
At present, conflicting information from both sides has created uncertainty regarding Khamenei’s actual condition.
